A former resident of Bluffton Rural Route 2, Mary L. Smith, 94, died at 9 a.m. Thursday at Mesa Springs Nursing Home in Amarillo, Tex. She was born in Bluffton on April 25, 1905 to Archibald and Arminda Reynolds Maddux. A housewife, she was the last of her family. She was a member of the Abilene Senior Center. Her marriage on Sept. 12, 1936 in Fort Thomas, Ky., was to Roll H. Smith, who died May 14, 1981. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. George (Lela Jane) Stultz of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and Mrs. David (Norma Jean) Simmons of Amarillo, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A son, Thomas, preceded her in death. Graveside rites will be held at a later date at Stahl Cemetery with Rev. William Shannon
