John C ran away to join the Union army several times. Finally joined under the name, David Williams. All his pension papers, etc. . . are under David Williams-including his death cert. He died at National Military Hospital (now the VA) in Dayton, OH. So when they filled out the form, they put "David Williams or John C. Oram".
