1Bluffton (Indiana) Evening Banner, On-line edition, 27 May 2008. "Ronald J. Kiefer, 60, died unexpectedly Sunday, May 25, 2008, at 9 a.m. at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Born to Woodrow and Lucille (Maddux) Kiefer on June 3, 1947, in Bluffton, he married Rita (Quinton) Kiefer on March 16, 1977, in Muncie. She survives him.
A 1965 graduate of Bluffton High School, he served in the U.S. Army as a tank driver in Germany. He worked at Super Valu in Fort Wayne from February 1969 to June 2004 when he retired. He attended Christian New Light Church.
Other survivors include four daughters, Susan Kiefer of Bluffton, Andrea (Nick) Gehrett of Liberty Center, Michelle (Christopher) Willsey of Noblesville and Cynthia (John) Goodin of Shelbyville; four brothers, Fred (Marilyn) Kiefer of Bluffton, Don (Linda) Kiefer of Bluffton, Tom (Vernie) Kiefer of San Mateo, Calif. and Rex Kiefer of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Nina (Hargis) Sizemore of Ossian and Celia Kiefer of Ossian; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton. Military graveside rites will provided by American Legion Post #111 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Pastor Tim McKnight will officiate.
Preferred memorials are to Christian New Light Church or Riley Children’s Hospital."

Diana D. Captain, 74, of Bluffton, died at 6:15 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born in Bluffton on May 3, 1938, to Nathan Maddux and Ruth Miller. She married Charles F. Captain in Bluffton on April 16, 1960; he survives. A 1956 graduate of Bluffton High School, Mrs. Captain achieved a B.S. degree at Ball State in 1960 and a master’s degree, also at Ball State, in 1962. She was an elementary and middle school teacher for 39 years at Bluffton-Harrison Metropolitan School District. For many years she led the coordination of the Washington, D.C., trip for the eighth grade. She was also co-owner of the Berne Antique Mall. Other surviving relatives include three sons, Chad (Renee) Captain of Bluffton, Brad (Jennifer) Captain of Falls Church, Va., and Tim (Rebecca) Captain of Bluffton; three sisters, Marna (Sheridan) Endicott of Fort Wayne, Kathy (Ken) Boeslund of Fort Wayne and Gay Isaksen of Palm Dessert, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Andrew, Grace, Ben and Charlotte Captain. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16; from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17; and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 18 at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Hartsell officiating. Burial is at the Six Mile Cemetery, rural Bluffton. Preferred memorials are to the Diana D. Captain Scholarship Fund."
