A former Bluffton resident, Shirley Ann (Noonan) Bathie, 68, of Ames, Iowa, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at the Israel Family Hospice House following a seven-year illness. She had worked part-time for several years for Iowa State University. Earlier, she had been a stewardess with Lake Central Airline. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church. Born Feb. 6, 1937, in Bluffton to Ivan C. and Marjorie (Johnson) Noonan, she was a 1955 graduate of Bluffton High School. Her marriage on June 29, 1958, in Bluffton was to William W. Bathie, who survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Belinda A. Bathie of Eagan, Minn.; a son, Mark S. Bathie of Ames; two sisters, Norma Ormsby of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Don (Carolyn) Vance of Sun City, Ariz.; and three grandchildren. Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Bethesda Lutheran Church with Rev. Randy Gehring officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery. Preferred memorials, in lieu of flowers, are to Israel Family Hospice House or the Bliss Cancer Center."

Former Wells County resident, Norma J. Ormsby, 78, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Born in Wells County to Ivan C. and Marjorie (Johnson) Noonan on April 26, 1929, she married Robert Ormsby; he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2001. Mrs. Ormsby worked as a carhop at the Dutch Mill Restaurant in Bluffton. She also worked at Magnavox for 20 years and McDonald’s for 12 years. She was a spokesperson for Heritage Park. Surviving relatives include two sons, Daniel W. (Betty) Ormsby of Atlanta, Ga., and Keith (Divine) Ormsby of St. Joseph; one daughter, Cathy Wenger of Fort Wayne; one sister, Carolyn (Don) Vance of Sun City, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ormsby was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Bathie. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals in Fort Wayne. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial is at Oak Lawn Cemetery, in Ossian. Preferred memorials are to Heritage Park in Fort Wayne."

1Bluffton (Indiana) News-Banner, On-line edition, 7 Aug 2000. "Retired Kitco worker Betty L. Nutter, 77, died at 8:10 a.m. Saturday at Christian Care Retirement Center. She had been in failing health the past six months, at which time she entered the care center. Mrs. Nutter retired in 1985 from the Kitco Manufacturing Co. in Bluffton. She also had been a Sunday school teacher for 42 years. She was born in Wells County March 5, 1923 to Cyrus and Helen Arnold Hunt. Her marriage at Poneto on Dec. 20, 1941 was to Albert L. Nutter, who died Nov. 9, 1982. Mrs. Nutter was a member of the First Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Wells County. Prior to moving into Christian Care, she had resided at 37 Hi Lo Dr. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ron (Kathy) Christner of Berne; a son, Martin L. Nutter of Bluffton; a brother, Robert Hunt of Berne; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one stepgreat-grandchild. A son, Kenneth, a brother and a sister are deceased. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, where calling hours are today from 1 to 8 p.m. Conducting the service will be Greg Starr and burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Memorials to the First Church of Christ youth education fund."

Hunt, 74, of Berne died at 1:38 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Adams County Memorial Hospital in Decatur. Mr. Hunt was retired from Northern Indiana Public Service Co. after 40 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the High Street United Methodist Church at Geneva. He was born in Wells County April 2, 1927, a son of Cyrus and Helen Arnold Hunt. His marriage in Adams County on Sept. 27, 1953 was to Edna Dailey, who survives. Additional survivors are three sons, Stanley E. of Willshire, Ohio, Terry of Geneva and Robert E. Jr., of Berne; three daughters, Mrs. James (Carolyn) Hicks and Deborah J. Hunt, both of Berne, and Brenda Hunt of Geneva; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A brother and two sisters are deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home in Berne with Rev. John Randall officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Geneva, with military graveside rites by Berne American Legion Post 468. Calling hours are today from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until time for services. Memorials to High Street United Methodist Church at Geneva or to Adams County Community Foundation Cancer Fund."

Former Bluffton resident Judy Hunt, 64, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007 at Tigard, Oreg., where she had lived the past two years.
Born Aug. 4, 1942 in Wabash, she was the daughter of Frederick and Lovina (Waters) Hunnicutt. She married Richard Hunt April 19, 1980 in Bluffton. He preceded her in death Dec. 5, 1994.
A 1960 graduate of Bluffton High School, she worked as a receptionist for Caylor-Nickel Clinic for 20 years and Ellison Bakery for several years. She enjoyed China painting, cake decorating and crafts.
Survivors include two sons, Craig Plummer of Los Angeles, Calif. and Trent Plummer of Tigard, Oreg.; a step son, Steve Hunt of Grandbury, Texas; two step daughters, Gloria Hunt and Angela Pfister, both of Bluffton; two brothers, Jerry and Fred Hunnicutt, both of Bluffton; and 11 grandchildren.
A sister, Rose Hunnicutt, preceded her in death.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home. Paula Hunnicutt will officiate services at 2 p.m. and burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
