1Bluffton (Indiana) News-Banner, On-line edition, 17 Oct 2003. "Ervin L. Aeschliman, 86 Ervin L. Aeschliman, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 16 at Christian Care Retirement Center. Born May 28, 1917 to Samuel and Minnie M. Gilliom Aeschliman, his marriage Nov. 9, 1940 to Stella Maddux took place in Bluffton. She preceded him in death June 19, 1996. Mr. Aeschliman worked at Blue Flame for over 20 years, and had worked at the Gerber Central Dairy. A member of the Apostolic Christian Church, he had served as an engineer for the Bluffton Fire Department. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 111 and an Army veteran of WWII. Survivors include three sons, David R. and Samuel E., both of Bluffton, and Ervin L. Jr., Auburn; two daughters Mrs. Thomas (Cammie) Bailey and Mrs. Arno (Ella) Sonnenberg, both of Ossian; two brothers Bill of Craigville and Walter of Bluffton; one sister Mrs. Sylvan “Sib” (Violet) Ringger, Bluffton; 12 grand children and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren. Services Monday at 10:30 a.m. will be at the Apostolic Christian Church East. Officiating will be ministers of the church and burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Grover Sheets Post 111 of the American legion will be in charge of the committal service at the cemetery. Calling is from noon until 8 p.m. Sunday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel and one hour prior to services Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to Christian Care Retirement Community."

She had worked for General Electric for 12 years, and at Utrad in Huntington for 11 years. She was a member of the Uniondale United Methodist Church. She was born in Wells County on May 10, 1916, a daughter of Charles E. and Ella (Maddux) Leverton. She was married in Linton, Ind., on April 18, 1953 to Keith L. Haiflich, who preceded her in death on May 29, 1968. She is survived by her son Ron (Margo) Haiflich of Ossian, a granddaughter Beth Ann Haiflich of Ossian, and a sister Maryann McElhaney of Liberty Center. She was preceded in death by a sister Eva Leverton and a brother Charles Edward Leverton. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home in Ossian. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with Phil Stettner officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ossian Health Care."

Leverton, 85 A 35-year employee until retirement from Dana Corporation and a construction worker before the Dana employment, Charles E. Leverton, 85, of Bluffton, died at 1:46 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 in World War II and was a resident of Wells County in rural Bluffton and Bluffton for 70 years of his life with another 10 years at Bryan, Ohio, and 5 years at Hamilton. He was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. Born October 12, 1919, in Bluffton, he was a son of Charles and Ellen Maddoux Leverton. His marriage to Wilma Irene James was in Bluffton in 1952. She preceded him in death on May 18,1967. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mack (Janet) Hobbs of Jonesboro, Ga., and Mrs. Dell (Meri) Williams of Ossian; one step-son, Lewis Cross of Fountain City, Colo.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Bo (Barb) Osborne of Bluffton and Betty Baker of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Mrs. Bill (Maryann) McElhaney of Liberty Center and Mrs. Ruth Haiflich of Ossian; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Leverton, and a brother, John Leverton. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Thoma-Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery at Rockford. Military gravesite services by Bluffton American Legion Post 111. Memorials to Disabled American Veterans."
