Born in Grant County, he retired in 1968 from the U.S. Air Force after 26 years. Surviving are two daughters, Nonna Lou Carlson of San Antonio and Brenda Kay Mann of Philadelphia; a son, Mark Jr. of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two brothers, Dale Leon "Shorty" of Bluffton and William of Warren; a half-sister, Ellen Marie Buckland of Bluffton; a stepsister, Mrs. Harold McFarren of Bluffton; a stepbrother, Roger Shaw of Warren; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Services at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel, Bluffton. Calling from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery, Bluffton, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 111. Memorials to American Legion Post 111, Bluffton."
