2Huntington Herald Press, Huntington, Indiana, Obituary, 16 Dec 1970. "Spencer Myers, 79, as resident of Lancaster for many years Rt. 6, Huntington, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at the residence. He had been in failing health the last year. He was a carpenter by occupation. Mr. Myers was born Feb. 17, 1891, in Jefferson Township to U.S. Grant and Ada Arnold Myers. His marriage was to Bertha Shaffer on Sept. 2 1922, and she died on Nov. 29, 1950. Surviving are for daughters Mrs. Kathryn Straley, Warren, Mrs. James (Winifred) Smith, Lancaster, Mrs. Robert, (Edris) Criag, Lancaster, and Mrs. Keith Garnet Simar. Walkerton. A son Billy Joe Myers, Lancaster, 22 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Daisy Cook, Jefferson Township, and two brothers, Alva, and Chester Myers, both of Warren. Deceased are three sons, Robert, Jesse, and Richard Myers, Three brothers, Fred, ezra, and Clell Myers and one sister, Mary Clements. Mr. Myers was a member of the Salamonie Church of the Brethren. Friends may call at the Baily Mortuary after 7 p.m. Wednesday and after Friday, noon at the Salamonie Church of the Brethren. Whrere funeral services will be conducted at 2pm. with the Rev. John Mishler officiating Burial will be in the Lancaster cemetery. The family prefers memorials as contributions to the Salamonie Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund."
